AFM/Raman of Cardiac Stent

Topographic Images in Cardiac Stent Replica

Nanonics ability to image structures with large Z extents that are as much as 14 times larger than standard AFM systems allows for imaging of such structures as cardiac stents and allows Raman imaging of drug distribution in such stents.

Raman Image at 856 cm-1

Raman spectra at every point in the scanning area were collected.

Raman chemical mapping of a region of the cardiac stent (color image). In upper left is an AFM image and Raman spectra can be accessed at each overlayed point in the AFM image. Raman images can then be made at any Raman frequency that is chosen. In the color image the band at 856 cm-1 (highlighted with an arrow in the spectrum) is chosen.
